Vielle does not collect any personal data. There are no accounts and no sign-in to Vielle, and I run no servers that receive your data. There is no analytics, advertising, crash reporting or tracking.
Vielle reads the music, audiobooks and podcasts you add, from the app's own folder or the folders you choose. Your library, listening history, playlists, ratings, bookmarks and settings are stored on your device. They never reach me. Deleting the app removes them, along with anything in its own folder.
Vielle works without the internet. The features below contact a third party only when you use them. Each service receives the request below and, like any website, your IP address. Their own privacy policies apply.
Cover and info lookup (off until you turn it on): album and artist names go to MusicBrainz, the Cover Art Archive and Wikipedia. Book titles and authors go to Open Library.
Online lyrics (off until you turn it on): song title, artist, album and length go to LRCLIB.
Internet radio: your searches go to the Radio Browser directory, and the station you play sees your connection.
Podcasts: your searches go to Apple's iTunes Search API, and the shows you follow are fetched from their publishers, who can see those requests.
Your own media servers: if you connect Jellyfin, Plex or Audiobookshelf, Vielle talks to the server you choose, and to plex.tv when signing in to Plex. Server addresses and sign-in tokens are stored on your device, and what you play is reported to your server.
Sync: if you turn it on, loves, ratings, play counts, playlists and your wishlist are written to the shared folder you pick, such as iCloud Drive. That folder's provider handles them under its own terms.
Links: anything that opens a web page opens in your browser. Report a Bug opens your email app, and nothing is sent until you send it.
The optional Pro unlock and tips are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Vielle never sees your payment details; it only checks with StoreKit whether Pro has been purchased.
Vielle does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children. Internet radio and podcasts are outside content that I don't review.
