Website Status Checker

Is it down, or is it just me?

Checks any public URL from our server: status code, response time, redirects, SSL certificate and security headers.

Reading the result

What counts as "up"?

Any response under 400. 2xx means the page loaded, 3xx redirects are followed (up to 5) and shown in order. 4xx and 5xx mean the server answered but something is wrong, and no response at all means the site is down or blocking us.

What's a good response time?

This is the time to the first byte, including DNS, connecting and the TLS handshake. Under 300 ms is quick, under a second is fine, and anything slower is worth looking into. It's measured from our server, so it'll differ from what you see at home.

When should I renew my certificate?

Let's Encrypt certificates last 90 days and are usually renewed automatically around 30 days before they expire. If this shows fewer than 14 days left, the automatic renewal has probably failed.

Is my URL stored?

No. The check runs once and nothing is logged or kept. Private and internal addresses can't be checked.

UpBar
Know the moment your site goes down UpBar checks your sites from the Mac menu bar, tracks uptime and response times over 7, 30 and 90 days, and notifies you the moment a site goes down.
